Nimrita Kumrai raped and murdered in hostel room, final autopsy report reveals
The final autopsy report of BDS final-year student Nimrita Kumari has been issued by Chandka Medical College Hospital Woman Medico-Legal Officer (WMLO) Dr Amrita on Wednesday, revealing that the deceased was sexually abused before being murdered.
As per the details of the medical report, Nimrita’s death was determined to be caused by suffocation. The reports showed that the asphyxial signs were caused by a rope on her neck.
“The ligature marks also tally with the information. Such signs are produced either in strangulation or hanging and are to be ascertained through circumstantial evidence as corroborative at the crime scene by state investigation authorities,” autopsy report stated.
The final postmortem report has also confirmed a male DNA profile indicated from semen residue on the deceased’s clothes whereas a vaginal swab tested positive for a forced sexual act.
Nimrita Kumari was found dead on September 16, 2019 in her hostel room.
Earlier, the brother of the deceased, Dr. Vishal insisted that her sister had been killed mysteriously; the postmortem report has also proved the claim. Whereas, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana, Dr Aneela Atta Ur Rahman, prior to police investigations, had claimed that Nimrita Kumari had committed suicide.
Following the massive protests after Nimrita’s death, the Sindh government has ordered a judicial inquiry into the matter which is still in process in Sindh High Court.
