9 months old Nishwa passes away due to medical negligence of Darul Sehat Hospital

9 months old Nishwa had become paralysed due to wrong medical treatment at Darul Sehat hospital on April 14. An overdose of potassium chloride had affected Nishwa’s brain severely, leaving her nearly brain-dead. Following developments, Nishwa was shifted to Liaquat National Hopsital where she passed away today.

According to news reports, Nishwa’s parents had been rather hopeful for their daughter’s recovery as she had been found coughing whereas all all she did was sleep earlier.

Nishwa’s father, Qaiser Ali, had filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Shahrah-e-Faisal police station stating that the hospital had accepted their mistake of an overdose.

According to Qaiser, he had brought his twin daughters to the hospital for treatment of diarrhea. He said that his daughters were injected three drips on different timings, but Nishwa’s condition had worsened when they had prepared to leave for home.

“My daughter was kept on the ventilator for next one week at the hospital and she was paralysed when doctors removed her from the vent machine,” said Qaiser Ali.
