Noor Jehan, the ailing elephant of Karachi Zoo, is no more!

The 17-year-old African elephant met a tragic end as she succumbed to her ailments on Saturday, despite treatment by foreign veterinarians.

Noor Jehan had fallen in a dry cemented pond in her enclosure on the night between April 12 and 13 and suffered injuries

It’s been an absolute tragedy that breaks our hearts to see Noor Jehan suffer like that.

Her condition improved a little bit after getting treatment from foreign experts who detected a large haematoma in her abdomen and found the perineal membrane ruptured.

The experts had cautioned that Noor Jehan was an intensive-care patient, requiring 24-hour monitoring along with medication and physical therapy.

Within four days of the team’s departure, however, the elephant reportedly fell into the pond.

Hope she reached a better place!
