Imran Khan’s peace initiative and his stance on peace in the region has prompted a lot of people to call out for Imran Khan’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. A petition on change.org was signed by more than 300,000 people calling for Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to receive a Nobel Peace Prize after he freed an Indian pilot in a bid to defuse tensions within the region.
Soon afterwards the hashtag #NobelPeaceForImranKhan began trending on Twitter and a resolution requesting the Nobel Prize for Imran Khan was also moved in the National Assembly Secretariat, said a notification released by the Ministry of Information.
However, taking to Twitter, the true statesman that he is, Imran Khan mentioned that he did not consider himself worth of a Nobel Prize.
“I am not worth of the Nobel Peace prize. The person worthy of this [Nobel Peace Prize] would be the one who solves the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and paves the way for peace & human development in the subcontinent,” wrote IK.
A British analyst recently wrote a piece on how Imran Khan was one of the best leaders for Pakistan after Quaid e Azam and we couldn’t agree less.
