With surging COVID-19 cases each day, the oxygen supply capacity in Pakistan is now under stress!
COVID-19 claimed 73 lives and infected 5,152 more people in the past 24 hours across the country.
Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar taking to social media warns of the situation and stressed that the need for safety precautions is greater than ever.
“Hospital fill up continuing to grow. Critical care patients now above 4500, which is 30% higher than the peak in June last year. Oxygen supply capacity in the country is now under stress. Sop compliance remains low. We are making a huge mistake by not following sop’s,” Asad Umar said in a tweet.

“Global covid cases exceeding 750,000 per day and deaths more than 13,000. We are seeing some of the worst numbers since covid started. Our neighborhood in severe crises. Daily deaths in Iran more than 300 and India more than 1600. Need for safety precautions greater than ever,” he added.

Pakistan Coronavirus Updates
According to the data available with the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 5,152 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday.
The condition of 69 patients is stated to be critical.
During the last 24 hours, 60,162 tests were conducted.
The coronavirus cases positivity rate in the country remained at 8.56 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of people who have recovered from the coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 662,845 after 3,362 more recoveries were reported in the country during the last 24 hours.
There are 82,276 active cases in the country while the recovery rate is 87.1 percent.
Region-wise COVID-19 cases reported on Monday is as follows:
- Punjab: 2,766 new coronavirus cases and 23 deaths
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,062 new coronaviruses and 32 deaths
- Balochistan: 118 cases
- Islamabad: 523 cases, 6 deaths
- Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 145 cases, 6 deaths
- Gilgit Baltistan : 6 cases
