Pakistan and China Ink 13 MoUs to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Multiple Sectors
Two sides signed the minutes of the 13th meeting of the CPEC Joint Coordination Committee and the 7th Joint Working Group on Gwadar under CPEC.

Pakistan and China on Monday signed 13 accords aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors including security, education, agriculture, human resources development and science and technology, at a ceremony held at Prime Minister House in Islamabad.
- PM Shehbaz and Premier Li led the delegation-level talks at the Prime Minister’s House
- Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who landed in Islamabad on a four-day official visit earlier at Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, virtually inaugurated the Gwadar International Airport, along with his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif.
- Both the prime ministers unveiled the plaque of Gwadar airport during the ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s House.
- During his visit, Premier Li will also attend the much-anticipated 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government (CHG), on October 15 and 16.
The documents were signed after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premer Li Qiang held the delegation-level talks wherein they discussed all aspects of Pakistan-China relations including economic and trade ties and cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The two countries exchanged documents for a handing-over certificate related to the Smart Classrooms project, signed by Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao.
Additionally, they exchanged the minutes of the 13th meeting of the CPEC Joint Coordination Committee and the 7th Joint Working Group on Gwadar under CPEC.
Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Lou Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, signed an MoU to promote cooperation under CPEC’s Livelihood Working Group.
Pakistan and China also agreed to enhance collaboration in areas such as Information and Communication, Water Conservancy Facilities, Flood Control and Calamity Reduction, and Security. The relevant MoUs were exchanged between Ahad Khan Cheema and Lou Zhaohui.
Ahad Khan Cheema and Lou Zhaohui further exchanged documents in Letters of Exchange concerning Human Resource Development under the GDI and an Assistance Program for Fire Fighting Vehicles for Islamabad.
Both countries also exchanged an MoU on Jointly Supporting Joint Laboratories, signed by Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Sajid Baloch and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.
An agreement on the co-production of TV programs was signed by Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ambreen Jan and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.
Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanvir Hussain and Chinese Ambassador Jian Zaidong exchanged documents on the protocol for quarantine requirements related to the export of donkey meat to China.
The neighbouring countries also signed a Currency Swap Agreement and a protocol on quarantine requirements for donkey meat exports.
