Army Warns India of Long-Term Consequences if It Blocks Pakistan’s Share of the Indus River Waters
“It is some madman who can think that he can stop the water of 240 million plus people of this country,” DG ISPR

The Pakistan Army, through its Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has issued a stern warning to India regarding any attempt to block Pakistan’s share of the Indus River waters.
DG ISPR stated that no one can dare to stop the water supply to over 240 million Pakistanis and called such an idea the act of “some madman” who thinks they can stop this vital resource.
“I hope that time doesn’t come, but it will be such actions that the world will see and the consequences of that we will fight for years and decades to come. Nobody dares stop water from Pakistan,” he said in an interview with a private media outlet.
“It is some madman who can think that he can stop the water of 240 million plus people of this country,” he added.
Lt Gen Chaudhry emphasised that if India tries to block Pakistan’s water, the consequences will be far-reaching and long-lasting, potentially felt for decades.
He warned that Pakistan would respond strongly and immediately to such an action, which would have severe repercussions beyond the immediate conflict.
The DG ISPR also highlighted that Pakistan hopes this situation never arises, but made it clear that Pakistan is prepared to take necessary measures to protect its water rights.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and ceasefire but underscored that any violation, including attempts to block water, would be met with a firm response.
“As far as the Pakistan army is concerned, this ceasefire will hold easily and there have been confidence-building measures in communication between both sides,” he added.
