Eid ul Fitr is being celebrated across Pakistan today but this time without the festivity owing to the coronavirus pandemic, and due to the recent PK-8303 plane crash, that killed 97 people just two days before eid.
It is a rare occasion that this year, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated on the same day across the country.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Eid congregations were held at open places, mosques, and Eidgahs in all major cities and towns while following strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) of social distancing and other precautionary measures.
However, reports claim that at many places COVID-19 SOPs were not followed properly.
Eid prayers were offered at mosques and more than 300 Eidgahs in cities and towns across the country.

President Arif Alvi, in his message, in his special message for eid on social media said that he was dedicating this Eid to “martyrs of PIA [crash], labourers who have been trying to earn amid the coronavirus situation, doctors, nurses, corona patients, Kashmiris bearing Indian brutality, Muslims affected by Islamophobia in India, Palestinians and Muslim refugees”.
President Alvi also informed that he will offer Eid prayers at home and urged people to “observe social distancing, wear masks and wash their hands so that they can keep themselves, their families and friends safe” from Covid-19.
