Great nations always remember their martyrs. This year Pakistanis commemorate Defense day by visiting the families of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
The main ceremony was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and a floral wreath was laid at the martyrs by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa, marking the anniversary of the 1965 war.
This year, Defence day is also being observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day to reaffirm the country’s support for the people of occupied Kashmir, who are living in lockdown for over a month now.
Special prayers were offered after dawn prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan and the independence of occupied Kashmir.
Many of the Pakistanis took to social media sharing their special messages on Defence Day and gratitude for martyrs.
