Pakistan COVID-19 Updates: 4,723 New Cases and 84 More Deaths Reported in Past 24 Hours

Pakistan in the past 24 hours has reported 4,723 new positive cases and 84 more COVID-19 related deaths.

The latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) shows during the period of a day, the total count of active cases across Pakistan has surged to 58,500 and the positivity rate stood at 9.41 percent.

Furthermore, 2,486 coronavirus recoveries were also reported during the last 24 hours.

Punjab remains the most affected province by the third wave of coronavirus, as it reports 2,403 coronavirus cases and 38 deaths during the last 24 hours.

The new UK variant of the virus has particularly contributed to the damage in Punjab as it spreads 70 percent faster than the previous one.

A comparative analysis of the official COVID-19 figures reported in Punjab in 2020 and the first three months of this year show, out of the total positive cases reported in the province since March 2020, 61pc were recorded during the first three months of this year. 

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the fourth day witnessed more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases. KP reported 1,007 coronavirus cases and 35 deaths.

With the news cases, the KP tally of COVID-19 cases total has risen to 90,262 and the death toll is 2,417.

Meanwhile, Balochistan reported 69 coronavirus cases and two deaths. The Province’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen to 19,679 and the death toll is 211.

The federal capital, Islamabad has reported 796 cases and 2 deaths. While Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported 192 cases and 5 deaths during the last 24 hours.
