Kashmir Solidarity Day has been observed since 1990, following a call from political leaders in Pakistan. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing conflict over Kashmir, which has been a point of contention between India and Pakistan since their independence in 1947. The day emphasizes Pakistan’s stance on advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as recognized by various United Nations resolutions.

The observance is not limited to Pakistan; events are also organized by Pakistani embassies abroad, aiming to mobilize international support for Kashmiri rights. This includes screenings of documentaries that depict human rights abuses in the region.

Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 serves as a significant occasion for Pakistanis to reaffirm their commitment to supporting the people of Kashmir in their quest for justice and self-determination.
