Pakistan detects 15 delta variant cases in Rawalpindi!
A day earlier National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had confirmed the presence of different variants of coronavirus, including the delta (Indian), beta (South African), and alpha (UK) variants, in Pakistan.
Divisional Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah on Thursday said that as many as 15 people were diagnosed with the delta variant of Covid-19 in the Rawalpindi district.
He asked the health authority to take precautionary measures and urged the citizens to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible to avoid the further spread of the virus.
“All government employees should submit their vaccination certificate by July 15 otherwise their salaries will be stopped,” he stated at a meeting held to review the Covid-19 situation.
Furthermore, the health authorities have also recommended imposing smart lockdown in 10 localities of Rawalpindi district from where the delta variant cases have been reported.
The 10 localities are as follows: Misrial Road, Adiala Road, Tench Bhatta, Gulshanabad, Dhoke Kashmirian, Amarpura, Khyaban-i-Sir Syed, Dhoke Dalal, and Jalala Road, Taxila.
As being reported, the district administration has not yet decided to take action as per recommendations of the provincial health authorities.
The delta variant is the most contagious version of the coronavirus worldwide.
It spreads about 225% faster than the original version of the coronavirus.
First identified in India last year, the fast-spreading variant has now become dominant in countries like the US and UK, leading to a significant spike in recent cases.
Delta Variant was also responsible for India’s devastating second Covid wave and it’s currently dominating the outbreak in the United States.
