Pakistan establishes relief fund for Türkiye earthquake victims

Pakistan has established a relief fund for Türkiye earthquake victims!
A 7.8 earthquake struck southeastern Türkiye on Monday and hours later, a second 7.6 quake hit the Kahramanmaras province.
Türkiye is now facing a 4th level alert state which includes an international call for help.
Following the devastating earthquake, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to establish a relief fund to help the victims of the deadly earthquake in Türkiye.
“To help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey at this difficult hour, PM Shebaz Sharif has decided to establish PM Relief Fund,” Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb notified on Tuesday.
“The federal cabinet has announced to contribute one month’s salary while the PM has appealed to the philanthropists to extend help,” the federal minister added.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Türkiye on February 8 to condole with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for Ankara tomorrow morning, he will express his condolences to the Turkish president and to the people of Turkey over the destruction caused by the earthquake and the loss of life,” Information Minister said in a tweet.

Earlier in the day, the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) C-130 Hercules aircraft carrying members of the Search & Rescue Team and blankets from PAF Base, Nur Khan landed in Istanbul, Turkiye.
The PAF aircraft was carrying relief goods from the people of Pakistan for the earthquake-affected brethren of Turkiye, a PAF press release said.
The transport fleet of PAF has always been at the forefront to respond to natural disasters and calamities both inland and abroad.
