Pakistan mourns the demise of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan!

Mohsin e Pakistan, father of Pakistan’s nuclear program Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan passed away on Sunday morning after his health deteriorated.

Dr. Khan, 85, was brought to the hospital in an emergency on Saturday night as his health deteriorated, however, he couldn’t survive as his lungs collapsed.

Pakistan mourns the demise of the renowned nuclear scientist, who played an important role in making Pakistan a nuclear power. His services for the defence of the country will be remembered for a long time.

Following the sad news of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan’s demise, condolences and tributes are pouring in on social media.

Defence Minister Pervez Khattak in a tweet said that he was “deeply grieved” over his passing and called it a “great loss”.

“Pakistan will forever honour his services to the nation! The nation is heavily indebted to him for his contributions in enhancing our defence capabilities,” he wrote.

 

Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed shared an old picture taken with the atomic scientist in a tweet and prayed for his forgiveness. 

“May Allah provides patience to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan’s relatives and those who are mourning his passing,” he said.

 

Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar in a tweet said Dr. Khan had played an important role in making the country “invincible”. He also offered prayers for the deceased.

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood in a tweet said, “Sad to learn of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan’s death. He was a pioneer of Pakistan’s nuclear program and contributed immensely to our security. May his soul RIP.”

 

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, taking to Twitter said that Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan’s death was a loss for the nation.

Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar in her tweet said, “Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is no more. A hero who made Pakistan invincible has left us May Allah bless him highest rank in Jannah. He was not only a true National Hero of Pakistan, he was a hero of the whole Muslim nation.”
