Pakistan observes Shab e Barat “Night of Absolution” the door to repentance and atonement for sins

Pakistan observes Shab e Barat, the “Night of Absolution” the door to repentance and atonement for sins this Monday night.

This time of year, special prayers are extended apart seeking forgiveness from sins, that the Almighty eradicate the global coronavirus pandemic and bless all the humans with health.

The month of Shabaan in the Islamic year, is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar, between Sha’ban, Rajab, and Ramadan. For which Holy Prophet Sarwar Du’alam said: Sha’ban is my month, Rajab Allah Almighty and Ramadan is my month. Sha’ban is the remover of sins and Ramadan is the purifier.

He further clarified the virtue of this month in his hadith, “Sha’ban is my month and Ramadan is the month of Allah Almighty.” He says, “May God bless us in Rajab and Sha’ban and bring us to Ramadan with goodness.

The fifteenth night of Sha’ban al-Mu’azzam is called Shab-e-Barat. It is a very blessed, dignified, and virtuous night. Tabarani and Ibn Habban narrated from Mu’adh ibn Jabal that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Gabriel came to me and said, ‘This is the fifteenth night of Sha’ban.’ Goats have hair, but Allah does not show mercy to polytheists, enemies, divorcees, disobedient parents, and drinkers (Alcoholics).

Therefore, this blessed month is entitled to obey and worship Allah more than any other month. Religious leaders have said that those who prepare their lives for hard work in this month will successfully achieve all the blessings and happiness of the month of Ramadan. Due to this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast most of the twelve months of the year after Ramadaan. A special feature of this month is the night of the fifteenth of Sha’ban.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Gabriel came to me on the night of the middle of Sha’baan and said: O Messenger of Allaah! Raise your head towards the sky. I asked him which night it is. This is the night on which Allah opens three hundred doors of mercy and forgives everyone who does not associate anyone with Him, provided that he does not become a sorcerer, nor does he have a good fortune. Do not eat, do not be addicted to alcohol, Allah will not forgive them until they repent.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Imam Ghazali (RA) has also written more names for this night in Revelation of Hearts. Laylat al-Takfir (Night of Forgiveness of Sins), Night of Life, Night of Forgiveness, Night of Freedom, Night of Intercession (Night of Intercession), Night of Destiny and Destiny (Night of Divide and Destiny) ۔ Laylat al-Mubarakah (blessed night), Laylat al-Baraat (night of salvation), Laylat al-Suk (the night on which butterflies are written), Laylat al-Rahma (night of mercy). The virtues and blessings of Shab-e-Barat are proved by the Holy Qur’an.
