Pakistan Railways cancels iconic Azadi train for the third consecutive year
The train would journey from Rawalpindi to important stations across the country, entertaining and engaging the public.
Pakistan Railways (PR) has opted not to run the Azadi Train, a traditional event that highlights the nation’s rich culture and heritage in celebration of Independence Day, for the third consecutive year.
The Pakistan Railways cited “severe financial difficulties” as the reason behind the decision to cancel the Azadi Train, which would journey from Rawalpindi to important stations across the country, entertaining and engaging the public.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways commented on the decision, saying, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the Azadi Train for the upcoming Independence Day. Our financial situation has not improved enough to support this large-scale event. We are committed to serving the people of Pakistan and hope to resume this tradition when our circumstances allow.”
