Pakistan reports 2,435 new COVID-19 cases and 48 deaths in 24 hours

Pakistan in the past 24 hours has reported 2,435 new COVID-19 cases and 48 deaths across the country.

With newly reported cases the country’s coronavirus tally has jumped to 497,510 while the death toll also increased to 10,558.

As being reported, 38,369 tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted to 7,002,706.

Out of these, Sindh reported 1,265 new cases, Punjab has reported 676 coronavirus cases and 18 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 307 coronavirus cases and eight deaths. While Balochistan has reported 14 cases. Similarly, Islamabad reported 155 COVID-19 cases, GB confirmed four, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir also reported 14 new infections.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has reported 3,313 coronavirus recoveries during the last 24 hours, according to the government’s portal for tracking the spread of the disease in the country.

So far, a total of 453,828 people have recovered from the virus.

With surging COVID-19 cases, Pakistan is expected to complete the clinical trial of a COVID-19 vaccine in the current week.

University of Health Sciences (UHS) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Javed Akram, who is also a member of the Scientific Task Force on COVID-19, said the trial will be completed by the end of the week.
