Pakistan reports 2,724 new COVID-19 cases & 65 deaths

Pakistan on Wednesday has reported 2,724 new coronavirus cases and 65 deaths.

According to the data available with the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 59,076 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours across the country.

While nationwide the positive case rate remained at 4.61 percent.

 

Punjab remains the most affected province from the third wave of COVID-19 as it reported 738 coronavirus cases and 36 deaths stemming from the virus over the past 24 hours.

Punjab’s coronavirus cases tally has increased to 336,315 and the death toll has risen to 9,875.

According to Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Care Department, at least 304,752 patients had recovered from the deadly virus as of yet, with 1,879 people recovered in the past 24 hours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 457 coronavirus cases and 20 deaths during the last 24 hours.

The KP’s corona cases tally has risen to 130,644 and the death toll is 3,990.

Meanwhile, Balochistan reported 95 coronavirus cases and one death. The total number of cases has increased to 24,733 and the death toll is 271.

The breakdown of cases and deaths reported in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan is as follows:

  • Islamabad: 133 cases, 1 death
  • AJK: 88 cases
  • GB: 4 cases

Pakistan to start vaccine registration for citizens aged 19 years, above from tomorrow (May 27)

Pakistan will start registering citizens aged 19 years and older for the coronavirus vaccine on Thursday, May 27.

NCOC chief Asad Umar announced the decision taken by the government in a tweet.

“In today’s NCOC meeting we decided to open up vaccination registration for all 19 years and above. This registration will start from tomorrow. So now registration will be open for the entire national population which is approved by health experts for covid vaccination”, Asad Umar said.
