Pakistan reports 47 coronavirus deaths, 2,545 new cases in the past 24 hours!

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 48,910 tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours. The positivity remained at 5.20%.

Furthermore, 1,030 Covid-19 recoveries over the past 24 hours.

Region-wise breakdown of COVID cases and deaths is as follows:

  • Punjab: 386 Covid-19 cases, 13 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 250 cases, 6 deaths
  • Balochistan: 154 new cases
  • Islamabad: 127 cases, 1 death
  • AJK: 89 cases, 1 death
  • GB: 119 cases

Data shows the fourth wave is starting, says Dr. Faisal Sultan

While Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan Thursday has warned about the alarming rise in the new Delta variant cases of the coronavirus, saying the data shows that the fourth is starting in Pakistan. 

“People should mark Eid-ul-Adha in a “limited, closed environment,” said SAPM Dr. Sultan.

Dr. Sultan added that the mutations in each new variant of the virus make it very easy to “jump from one person to another”.

“This variant is spreading at a pace of 50-60%,” he said.

Rapid build-up starting to take place in the inflow of Covid patients at hospitals says Asad Umar

 

Federal minister for planning and head of NCOC Asad Umar in a tweet said: “Rapid build-up starting to take place in covid patients hospital inflow, as well as patients in critical care. This Indian variant has caused devastation in countries in the region. Please follow sop’s and get vaccinated as soon as possible. Do not risk your own & others’ lives.”
