Pakistan reports 5,480 new COVID-19 cases and 151 deaths

Pakistan has reported 5,480 new COVID-19 cases and 151deaths during the past 24 hours.
According to the data available with the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Thursday, the total tally of COVID-19 cases stands at 815,711 with most cases reported in Punjab.
Punjab has reported 2,674 coronavirus cases and 103 deaths during the last 24 hours.
The provincial total is 298,818 and the death toll is 8,327.
Furthermore, Pakistan reported 3,699 coronavirus recoveries during the last 24 hours.
While the country’s COVID19 positivity rate has been recorded at 9.61.
As per the NCOC, during the last 24 hours, 57,013 tests were conducted across the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 927 coronavirus cases and 37 deaths during the last 24 hours. The provincial corona cases total has risen to 116,523 and the death toll is 3,238.
Meanwhile, Balochistan reported 173 coronavirus cases. the provincial tally has reached 22,118 and the death toll remains 223.
The coronavirus cases reported in federally administered territories is as follows:
- Islamabad: 509 cases, 2 deaths
- AJK: 152 cases, 2 deaths
- GB: 16 cases, 1 death
Vaccination of citizens aged 40-49 years to commence from May 3: NCOC
Earlier in the day, NCOC notified that the vaccination drive for citizens of age 40 to 49 years will start from May 3.
Scheduled vaccination of 40-49 years will commence from 3rd May 21. Please register yourself by sending your CNIC number to 1166.

Meanwhile, for the second consecutive day, more than 1 lakh people were vaccinated across the country, informs NCOC Chief Asad Umar.
