Pakistan reports 56 COVID-19 deaths and 1,165 new cases in a day

Pakistan has reported 56 COVID-19 deaths and 1,165 new cases in the past 24 hours. A total of 33,196 tests were conducted across the country during this period.

With the newly reported cases, the nationwide coronavirus positive cases have surged to 565,989.

While the total number of deaths reported stands at 12,436.

According to the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the total count of active cases is 25,008.

In Pakistan, in the past 24 hours, as many as 1,484 patients have recovered from the virus in a day and 1,662 patients are still in critical condition.

Overall 528,545 people have so far recovered from COVID-19 while 8,531,218 samples have been tested nationwide altogether.

In the past 24 hours, Punjab has reported 504 new coronavirus cases and 30 deaths in past 24 hours, the official COVID portal said.

Furthermore, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about 238 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths have been recorded over the past 24 hours, according to government data.

Meanwhile, Balochistan reported eight cases.

The federal territories have collectively reported 145 cases and one death over the past 24 hours.

Following is a breakdown of cases:

  • Islamabad: 113 cases

  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 30 cases; 1 death

  • Gilgit Baltistan: 2 cases
