Pakistan reports 5,857 new coronavirus cases & 98 deaths

Pakistan on Thursday has reported 5,857 new coronavirus cases & 98 deaths.

The situation of the COVID-19 third wave is getting grim with each passing day in the country as people are not paying attention to the government’s call to follow coronavirus SOPs.

According to NCOC, the total number of active COVID-19 cases across the country was reported to be 84,935.

The national COVID-19 cases tally has now surged to 778,238 cases while the death toll has climbed to 16,698.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has reported 3,986 coronavirus recoveries during the last 24 hours, according to the government’s portal for tracking the spread of the disease in the country.

The total has risen to 676,605 and the recovery rate is 86.9 percent.

Coronavirus Situation In Punjab

Punjab on Thursday reported 2,902 new coronavirus cases and 54 deaths.

According to Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Care Department, the news cases reported in Punjab during the past 24 hours, the provincial tally of covid-19 cases has surged to  279,437 while the death toll has reached 7,718.

The department added that at least 226,380 patients had recovered from the coronavirus.

The COVID-19 cases continued to surge in the federal capital as well.

A new 549 corona cases were reported from the city during the last 24 hours, National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Thursday.

In Islamabad, as many as 375 cases were reported on Wednesday while 530 cases were reported on Tuesday.

Breakdown of deaths and cases reported in federally administered territories is as follows:

  • Islamabad: 549 cases
  • AJK: 153 cases, 3 deaths
  • GB: 11 cases

Coronavirus Situation in Sindh

Sindh on Thursday reported 14 COVID-19 related deaths and 734 new cases.

Among the new cases, 383 have been detected from Karachi only, including 186 from East, 97 South, 40 Central, 32 Korangi, 22 Malir, and six West.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on Thursday has urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.

As being reported, 12,659 tests were conducted across the province in the past 24 hours that constituted a 5.7 percent current detection rate. 

The CM informed that currently, 9,696 patients were under treatment, of them 9,213 were in home isolation, 9 at isolation centers, and 474 at different hospitals.

He added that the condition of 433 patients was stated to be critical, including 52 are on ventilators.

As per the Sindh’s district-wise data: Hyderabad has 136, Sukkur 32, Larkana 25, Shikarpur 15, Thatta and Shaheed Benazirabad 14 each, Mirpurkhas and NausheroFeroze 13 each, Sujawal 11, Badin 10, Dadu, Ghotki and Sanghar nine each, Jamshoro, Kashmore and Tando Allahyar eight each, Tando Muhammad Khan four, Khairpur two.

Coronavirus Situation in KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday reported 1,242 coronavirus cases and 37 deaths.

This is the second day in a row the province has reported more than 1,000 infections.

On Wednesday, KP has reported 1,153 cases.

The provincial total is 109,704 and the death toll has surged to 2,990.

Coronavirus Situation in Balochistan

Balochistan on Thursday reported 115 new cases and one more death.

The provincial tally is 21,242 while the death toll is 226.

Corona Vaccination of Citizens Continues

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination on Thursday continued the vaccination of senior citizens of age 50 to 59 years across the country as per procedure being adopted for other age groups.

For getting registered for vaccination dose, citizens of said age group are required to send SMS with computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 1166 from any mobile number or visit the website of the National Immunization Management System (NIMS).

Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced that a consignment of 500,000 doses of SinoVac vaccine for the novel coronavirus has reached Pakistan from China.

As being reported, the latest consignment was procured from China on payment.
