Pakistan’s first confirmed case of the BF.7 variant of COVID-19 has been reported in Karachi on Tuesday.

The new BF.7 Omicron variant of the coronavirus, is the highly infectious strain of COVID-19, which has played havoc in China.

According to sources in the health department, the first case of the BF.7 variant was detected in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi.

The patient has no travel history to China, the source added.

The BF.7 variant has been detected in a patient through gene sequencing.

The virus-infected person showed symptoms after another person met him at his office, the source revealed.
