Pakistan reports the highest number of Covid cases since June 5!

The country, over the last 24 hours, reported 1,683 infections and 24 deaths while 50,531 tests were conducted.

This is the highest number of coronavirus cases reported since June 5, when 1,629 cases were reported.

The total number of cases has risen to 967,633 and the death toll is 910,609.

The positivity rate was recorded as 3.33 percent.

Region-wise breakdown of reported coronavirus cases and deaths reported on Thursday is as follows:

  • Sindh: 1,075 cases, 16 deaths
  • Punjab: 167 cases, 7 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 128 cases
  • Islamabad: 104 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 87 cases, 1 death
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 65 cases
  • Balochistan: 57 cases

Pakistan has reported 1,084 Covid-19 recoveries over the past 24 hours, according to the government’s portal for tracking the spread of the disease.

While the total count of recoveries recorded so far across the country is 910,609 and the recovery rate is 94.1 percent.

416,363 Covid vaccine doses have been administered across Pakistan on July 7.

 

On the other hand, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Faisal Sultan has warned that indications are showing that the situation has started worsening.

“Covid data from last week show a small but definitive uptick in cases, percentage positivity, and other parameters. Masks, avoidance of large crowds, and continued vaccination remain crucial tools in this work,” he said in a tweet.
