Pakistan successfully manufactures corona vaccine

Pakistan has successfully manufactured a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine at the National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad.

In a major development, the vaccine was manufactured by Pakistani experts under the supervision of a Chinese team.

“The quality control division of the NIH is currently examining the locally manufactured COVID vaccine and initial trials have proved it is safe to be administered,” the statement said adding that the documents pertaining to it will be submitted to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).

The National Control Lab for Biologicals of the DRAP will examine the vaccine and give a final approval regarding its use. “The doses will be supplied nationwide soon after receiving DRAP’s approval,” it added.

As being reported, in the first phase, 124,000 doses of single-dose CanSino vaccine have been prepared. The locally produced corona vaccine will be available for use from the next week.

While the second batch of vaccines will be manufactured by Pakistani experts.

The Chinese team assisted experts in vaccine development with the raw material provided to Pakistan by the Chinese company CanSino.

Raw materials for the second batch of corona vaccine will arrive soon from China.
