Pakistan to observe Youm-i-Dua tomorrow for protection against pandemic: President Alvi

Pakistan will observe Youm-i-Dua, (Prayer Day) tomorrow (Friday) for protection against the pandemic,

The announcement was made by President Dr. Arif Alvi on Thursday. He said that the nation will observe Youm-e-Dua on Friday to pray to Almighty Allah for protection against the Coronavirus pandemic.

While speaking after an interaction with Ulema in Islamabad, he said a strategy of a combination of prayers, precautionary measures, and taking care of the weak segment of the society will be pursued in the second wave of COVID-19. He said Pakistan remained successful in controlling the pandemic in its first wave.

The President has appealed to the nation to strictly follow the standard operating procedures to check the surge of the pandemic.

He said that the religious scholars of the country have an important role in spreading awareness about precautionary measures adding that the Ulema have also agreed to play their effective role in this regard.

Furthermore, the President added that the Ulema have reaffirmed the SOPs issued for mosques on April 17. He said the Ulema observed that politicians also need to demonstrate unity against the pandemic and postpone their public gatherings.

The President has also requested the media to enhance its role in spreading awareness among people about SOPs against the pandemic.
