Pakistan, UK to work closely to stop the spread of COVID-19

Pakistan and the United Kingdom have decided to work closely and stay in contact aiming to stop the spread of COVID-19 outbreak.

In a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Dominc Raab discussed the ways to halt the pandemic, a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.

Both the countries exchanged views on the COVID-19 outbreak and prospects of enhanced bilateral cooperation to jointly control the pandemic.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed  his good wishes for the speedy recovery of Prince Charles and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who had tested positive for COVID19.

Qureshi expressed deep condolences over the loss of innocent lives in the UK from the pandemic and also acknowledged British authorities for taking care of the Pakistanis in UK.

He also shared concerns over the continuing communication blackout in Indian held  Kashmir – deprived of critical information and essential medical supplies.

The FM highlighted the need to lift sanctions against Iran, enabling it to utilise its resources to save precious human lives.

The British foreign secretary express gratitude to Qureshi for his expression of solidarity. He concurred that enhanced global cooperation is key to combat the pandemic.
