Pakistani elites receiving COVID-19 vaccine shots at their homes has left the citizens furious.

It was a day ago when social media was flooded with a video clip showing the family of Federal Minister Tariq Basheer Cheema getting vaccinated out of turn and at their home.

Corona vaccination drive has ignited a fresh debate for different treatment for the elite class and the poor masses.

 

Keep in mind that COVID-19 does not differentiate between social classes, it is equally dangerous for every human on the planet.

Former Pakistan President and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also received his first COVID-19 vaccine shot. That was reportedly arranged at his home, Bilawal House, Karachi. 

It’s a good thing that being elderly Mr. Zardari was vaccinated, but again the question was raised. What about the rest of the elderly people of the country who wait in queues at the vaccination centers for their turns to receive respective shots.

A similar question was raised by famous crime show host Iqrar ul Hasan.

“Asifa Bhutto tweeted this picture of Zardari being vaccinated. May Allah keep the shadow of their father on their heads forever. But the question is that my mother is also weak, I have registered for her today, I am worried about the rush, how will she get vaccinated by getting in line. Is there any facility for vaccination in the house of Sindh government for the common man? Or the Pakistan of the elite and Pakistan of the poor,” Iqrar said.

 

There was a similar uproar when Asad Umar and Zubair Umar Family members got vaccinated in Karachi without the Sindh government’s approval. 

However, earlier in the day, Cheema denied accusations that he had been vaccinated against the virus from the government’s stock.

Federal Minister Tariq Basheer Cheema claimed that a team from the University of Health Sciences (UHS) had arrived at his residence to administer a ‘booster shot’ of a ‘trial vaccine’.

The minister said the same team had earlier administered the first dose of the trial vaccine to his family at their residence as well.
