Pakistani maestro Niaz Ahmed passes away in Lahore

Famed Pakistani music composer and director Niaz Ahmed, after battling prolonged illness passed away in Lahore. The maestro was 75.

According to the reports, Niaz Ahmed had been suffering from various health issues including cardiac malfunctions and diabetes.

He was put on a ventilator on Monday afterward his condition further deteriorated and did not recover.

Niaz Ahmed was one of the most admired musicians of Pakistani industry who has a long collaboration with who’s who of the Pakistan music industry.

He composed music for renowned classical singers including Mehdi Hassan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Noor Jahan, Mahnaz, Abida Parveen, Naheed Akhtar, Nayyara Noor, and many others.

Niaz’s masterpiece composition includes Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Mera Inaam Pakistan, Alan Faqeer’s super hit Ho Allah Saein, Naheed Akhtar’s Hum Maayein, Hum Behnein— amongst the national songs.

He also collaborated with Noor Jehan’s popular song Naina Tum Chup Rehna and Mehdi Hassan album Kehna Usey.

The maestro was hailed from Lahore and later shifted to Karachi for his musical career opportunities.

Niaz Ahmed was awarded the President of Pakistan’s Civil Award Pride of Performance in 2014.
