Pakistan’s coronavirus cases tally leaves behind China with more than 85,000 COVID-19 cases.
China where the virus had originated in the city of Wuhan, had reported 84,160 cases so far.
As reported by AP, the spike in coronavirus cases in Pakistan comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan eased lockdown restrictions despite experts’ recommendations to maintain them to prevent the spread of the virus.
Authorities have blamed people not adhering to social distancing regulations for the growing outbreak.
The provincial tally of COVID-19 cases is as follows:
Sindh: 32,910 cases
Punjab: 31,104 cases
KP: 11,373 cases
Baluchistan: 5, 224 cases
Meanwhile, Pakistan has recorded 1770 deaths from COVID-19 so far and more than 30000 people have been reportedly recovered.
On Tuesday, Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has reported 1,615 new coronavirus cases, taking the provincial tally to 31,104.
The province’s death toll from the virus has risen to 607 after 37 additional fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours.
According to the department, 7,712 people have recovered from the virus while 259,254 tests have been conducted so far.
Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have collectively reported 402 new cases, the government’s Covid-19 portal said.
