Pakistan’s coronavirus cases tally surpass 60,000

Pakistan’s total number of coronavirus cases have reached 60,074.

The national death toll from the virus stands at 1,239 while 19,142 people have recovered.

Sindh reported 699 COVID-19 positive cases taking the tally to 24,206,  while six more patients lost their lives in the last 24 hours. 235 patients were in critical condition, and 42 of them have been put on ventilators.

On Wednesday, Punjab reported 464 more Covid-19 cases and 10 new deaths, according to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.

Province’s cases tally has surged to 21,118 while the total death toll has risen to 362.

Further, 6,185 patients have recovered from the disease in Punjab while 73 are in critical condition.

KP has reported 224 new Covid-19 cases,  and 9 deaths on Wednesday.

Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC)  had to stop admitting new coronavirus patients as they do not have enough beds at the moment, according to the hospital administration.

After Eid holidays Islamabad has reported 151 new coronavirus cases.

According to the government’s Covid-19 portal, the capital’s total cases have surged to 1,879.

Gilgit Baltistan has reported 8 new cases while Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported three new cases.

The federal territories have collectively reported four additional deaths from the virus — Islamabad and GB have reported one death each while AJK has reported two fatalities.

 Balochistan reported 68 new coronavirus cases, although no deaths were reported during the last 24 hours.

The provincial tally of infections rises to 3,536, according to the Balochistan health department.
