Pakistan’s First Coronavirus Patient Recovers, Confirms Sindh Government

Earlier last week Pakistan reported its first Coronavirus case as a 22-year old student, with a recent trip to Iran, tested positive for COVID-19 in Karachi. The patient was kept in isolation for 10 days in a private hospital of the city where he has now fully recovered, confirmed a spokesperson for the Sindh Government.

The patient, whose family also traveled to Iran and was also tested for the virus, will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. Additionally, the people who traveled along with the affected patient were also tested.

Chief Minister Sindh chaired a meeting with the Coronavirus task force in Karachi and declared the patient’s recovery a victory of Sindh’s Health Department.

So far Pakistan has six confirmed cases of Coronavirus where three of the patients are being treated in Karachi while the rest, belonging to Gilgit-Baltistan are undergoing treatment in Islamabad. All of the patients have recently traveled to Iran, where the disease widely spread and killed over 100 people.

 

Globally, Coronavirus has killed over 3,400 people in 90 countries with the majority of deaths in China.
