Pakistan’s Shehroze Kashif, 19, becomes youngest person to summit K2

Pakistan’s Shehroze Kashif, 19, becomes the youngest person to summit K2, the world’s second-highest mountain, using supplementary oxygen.

According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan, Shehroze Kashif reached the 8,611 metre (28,251 foot) summit at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The climber hailing from Lahore has broken the record previously held by the late Muhammad Ali Sadpara’s son Sajid.

Sajid Sadpara was 20 when he climbed K2 using supplementary oxygen.

Earlier in May, he became the youngest Pakistani to scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain.

Kashif had scaled the world’s 12th highest mountain, 8,047-metre (26,400 foot) Broad Peak, at the age of 17.

He had used supplemental oxygen on both his ascents to Broad Peak and Everest.
