“Supreme Court is Mother of Law, not Mother-in-Law,”- PDM gives a sit-in protest call in front of SC to begin on Monday

Moulana Fazal ur Rehman said that relief given by the Supreme Court to Imran was akin to giving ‘protection’ to terrorism.

“Supreme Court is Mother of Law, not Mother-in-Law,”- PDM President Moulana Fazal ur Rehman said as he gave a sit-in protest call in front of SC to begin on May 14, Monday.

The heads of all parties in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) met on Friday to chalk out a course of action in the wake of the Supreme Court’s order to release PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Addressing the media following the meeting, PDM president Moulana Fazal ur Rehman ordered his supporters to reach Islamabad on Monday.

JUI-F chief criticized the SC for allegedly favoring Imran Khan. He also accused the top judges of facilitating Imran Khan’s actions.

“A sit-in will begin in front of the Supreme Court building in Islamabad from Monday,” Maulana Fazal ur Rehman said, adding, “If someone stops us, we will answer with slaps, sticks, and stones.”

Maulana added that relief given by the Supreme Court to Imran was akin to giving ‘protection’ to terrorism.

“Why was such relief not extended to three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif?” Fazal asked.

JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman said: “If anyone does any vandalism or ransacking then it means PTI miscreants have entered our ranks and they will be caught on the spot.”

When questioned about the imposition of Section 144 in Islamabad, the presence of the military, and permission for the protest, Rehman said: “This issue is no longer ours. We have gone far beyond it.”

He criticized the Supreme Court and said that soon after riots and unrest were started by PTI workers, it was clear to the government that it was only a matter of two days before the courts intervene.

“We have held anti-government protests, organized million marches and gathered in Islamabad too, but did not resort to violence or damaged state properties,” he claimed, adding that the PTI’s response was immature and yet Imran Khan was given relief by the Supreme Court.

He reiterated that negotiations can’t be held with Mr. Imran Khan as he has nothing to offer.”

As reported, self-exiled former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz participated in the PDM meeting via video link while the alliance chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman chaired the meeting.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Aftab Sher Pao, Senator Tahir Bizenjo, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, Akram Khan Durrani, Maulana Asad Mehmood, and others were also in attendance in the meeting.
