The nearly two-year-long wait is about to get over as BBC has set the UK launch date for its much anticipated period crime saga Peaky Blinders Season 5.
Tommy Shelby and the gangster clan will be back as the first episode will air on Sunday, August 25 at 9 PM local time on BBC One, as the series has been moved from its previous home on BBC Two.
The series shifts to BBC One comes after Peaky Blinders won its first BAFTA for Best Drama four years into the run in 2018.
Netflix has yet to confirm a date for the streaming site premiere, though the show typically drops on Netflix once the UK season has concluded.
So, those who don’t have excess to BBC One, the Netflix subscribers will likely have to wait a while before getting this series
Peaky Blinders season 4 came to Netflix UK on December 19, 2018, a year after it aired on the BBC.
However, Season 4 made its way to Netflix US on December 21, 2017, so while a US release date for season 5 has yet to be confirmed, hopefully, it’s not going to be a long wait.
According to official plot synopsis: “Series five of Steven Knight’s crime family saga finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere.
When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realizes that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.”
