Dowry, extravagant receptions, Dholki and Mayun, lavish banquets, top class photographers and expensive bridal dresses— above all, marriage in our society starts with an additional event of bridal showers. These are the adopted customs— a more influenced Indian culture of weddings, that has taken our society to a place where the poor and mediocre status of people has to experience not only a financial jerk but psychologically, they are more trapped hoping for as many as they could do.
Wedding ceremonies can be simple and subtle. It’s a disgrace when it comes to our wedding institution and traditions related to it. These wedding practices have stripped away the real essence of marriage. Instead of helping to create a steady foundation of a happy relationship throughout our marriage, we waste our money and time to attain weak standards of weddings.
A wedding in our society is a multi-day event that includes decorations, performances, gatherings, food, traditional ceremonies and a lot of other festivities. Hours of work and hefty sums are spent to arrange an attractive wedding, but there is barely any attention paid to the marriage itself.
Sadly, this is wild concept of making marriages costly and lavish has put weddings out of reach for people having limited means and adds greater burden on parents, bride and even groom. Looking into the useless practices in wedding, and to end the wasteful customs people took to social media to raise their collective voice on #MakeMarriageEasy.
