PewDiePie ‘Sickened’ by the reference from Christchurch terrorist

PewDiePie has finally responded as the Christchurch terrorist Brandon Tarrant mentions his name in the video. Popular YouTuber Felix, found himself quoted in news coverage of the Christchurch mosque terrorist attack in New Zealand.

Forty-nine people were killed and at least 48 were injured in a terrorist attack at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday.

The terrorist who was later identified as 28-year-old Australian broadcast part of the attack that left at least 49 people dead urged those watching to “subscribe to PewDiePie”, referring to the alias used by Felix Kjellberg.

The terrorist behind the killing of Muslim worshipers, now in police custody,  also posted a 74-page “manifesto” online that shared white supremacist views.

The phrase, “subscribe to PewDiePie,” has become a meme among fans of the YouTuber.

His channel has long dominated YouTube and courted controversy along the way. PewDiePie himself has responded for the mentioning of his name by the terrorist.

In a tweet, the famed social media celebrity wrote, “Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch. I feel absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person. My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families, and everyone affected by this tragedy”.

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, known online as PewDiePie, is a Swedish YouTuber, comedian, and video game player–commentator, best known for his YouTube video content, which has mainly consisted of Let’s Play commentaries, vlogs, and comedic formatted shows.
