Coronavirus Outbreak: PIA suspends all international flights till March 28

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national carrier is suspending all international flights on directives from the federal government.

“PIA is cancelling all its international flights in accordance with the directives of Government of Pakistan effective from 8 PM 21 Mar 2020 till 28 Mar 2020. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. For more information & reservation changes contact 111-786-786”, PIA announced in a tweet.

According to the spokesperson, the decision will become effective at 8 pm on March 21 and international flights will resume on March 28.

The spokesperson said that all flights are being cancelled and tickets will be refunded. If people want to change their tickets to date after March 28, there will be no charges, he said.

The airline will decide if it wants to extend this closure after March 28.

The move comes in aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus. Many cases in Pakistan were reported in people who had travelled to the country from abroad.
