PIA to send its workers on paid leaves

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to send its workers on rotation-based paid leaves from April 14, airline’s HR chief issued directives on Sunday.

An e-mail has been sent by the Air Commodore Amer Altaf to the section heads saying that workers will be sent on 10-day paid leave so that the entire work force avails their leaves without exception each month.

The move was taken to “curtail unnecessary cost due to non-utilization of manpower and to curb the associated overhead costs”.

The HR department asked the section heads of the organization to plan service rosters in a way that operations across the country would not get affected.

The domestic and international flight operations in the country have been suspended until April 21.

On April 2, Aviation Division spokesperson Abdul Sattar Khokhar had said that diplomatic, special and cargo flights would be exempted from the order.

COVID has so far claimed over 88 lives and the positive cases tally surge to more than 5,000 people across the country.
