PM Imran Khan, first lady feeling ‘comfortable with mild COVID-19 symptoms’

PM Imran Khan and the first lady Bushra Bibi who tested positive for COVID-19 a day ago are doing well.

The health update regarding the Prime Minister and his wife’s health was shared by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill on Sunday.

“By the grace of Allah Almighty and the charity of the Holy Prophet, Prime Minister Imran Khan and First Lady Bushra Imran are comfortable with mild symptoms,” Dr. Gill said in his tweet.

“The Prime Minister and the First Lady are grateful for all your prayers and good wishes. The Prime Minister will continue his official duties on video conferencing as usual,” he added.

Hours after PM Imran Khan tested positive for COVID-19, Health Ministry on Saturday clarified that the premier was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus.

“He only got the 1st dose and merely 2 days ago which is too soon for ANY vaccine to become effective. Anti-bodies develop 2-3 weeks after the 2nd dose of 2-dose COVID vaccines,” the statement said.

The 68-year-old Pakistani premier received a shot of the Chinese-produced Sinopharm vaccine on March 18.

Meanwhile, the world leaders, celebrities, and Pakistanis took to social media to extend wishes for PM’s swift recovery.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished a “speedy recovery” to his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan.

“Best wishes to Prime Minister Imran Khan for a speedy recovery from COVID-19,” he tweeted.

Sri Lankan prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, in his tweet, said: “Wishing Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI a speedy and full recovery! Our thoughts and prayers are with him during this time of difficulty.”

 

Foreign envoys stationed in Pakistan have also extended wishes for Prime Minister Imran Khan for a speedy recovery from COVID-19.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong,  in a tweet, said: “My best wishes for speedy and complete recovery of Prime Minister of Pakistan @ImranKhanPTI.

 

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Christian Turner in his tweet said, “Wishing a speedy recovery & Shifa to PM @ImranKhanPTI #GetWellSoon.”

The French Embassy in Pakistan taking to Twitter, said: “We wish PM Imran Khan a prompt and full recovery.”

 

Australia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr. Geoffrey Shaw in a tweet also wished a full and speedy recovery for the prime minister. “My thoughts and prayers are with the PM and all those affected by the coronavirus around the country.”

 

Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan Ambassador Bénédict de Cerjat in his tweet said: “Wishing a speedy recovery to Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI.”

 

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Federal Minister for Science & Technology Government of Pakistan, said: “The Pakistani nation prays for a speedy recovery of their favourite leader. May God give him good health, Amen.”

“Wishing my Prime Minister Imran Khan a quick recovery and good health,” tweeted Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Minister of Interior in Pakistan. in his tweet said: “May God give good health to prime minister Imran Khan. The whole nation’s prayers with him. God willing, he will recover soon.”
