Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a three-year extension in the tenure of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Monday.
According to the statement issued by the PM Office, the decision has been “taken in view of the regional security environment.”
The notification issued by Prime Minister’s office was brief which reads as: “General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed Chief of Army Staff for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure. The decision has been taken in view of the regional security environment”.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa is the 10th and current Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army. He took the command of the Pakistan Army on November 29, 2016.
