PM Imran Khan is ‘extremely disappointed’ by Punjab Assembly decision to raise pays & privileges of MPAs

Pakistani Prime Minister seems to be extremely disappointed by the recent decision was taken by Punjab Assembly to raise pays and privileges for MPAs, ministers and especially the Chief Minister.

The Punjab Assembly on Wednesday enhanced the salaries, perks, and privileges of its members to more than double, after enacting the legislation within 24 hours of tabling the bill concerned.

The unanimously-passed legislation was tabled as a private bill by treasury’s Ghazanfar Abbas Cheema on a private members’ day.

PM Imran Khan expressed his disappointment in a tweet, in a tweet, saying that once prosperity returned to Pakistan such a move would be justified.

In his tweet PM shared: I am extremely disappointed by the decision of Punjab Assembly to raise pays & privileges of MPAs, Ministers & esp CM. Once prosperity returns to Pak such a move could be justified, but now, when we do not have resources to provide basic amenities to all our people, this is untenable.

As being reported Punjab Assembly unanimously passing a bill to increase salaries of its lawmakers, the province’s chief minister’s salary has now surpassed that of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

After this decision, social media is laden with the public response, who seem to the not so happy with this new development in Naya Pakistan.

The news source also reports that Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar will not sign summary seeking approval of exponential increment in salaries of Punjab Assembly members without the consent of PM Imran Khan.
