PM Imran Khan launches health insurance programme for Punjab residents

PM Imran Khan on Monday has launched a health insurance programme for Punjab residents.

PM Imran Khan announced that by the end of January, all families in the province will get the ‘Naya Pakistan Health Card’.

Under the scheme, all families in Punjab can avail of free medical treatment up to Rs1 million per year.

Punjab is set to become the second province, after KP,  to offer its residents universal coverage.

 

“Under the Prime Minister’s Welfare State Vision and Universal Health Insurance Program, a new Pakistan Health Card will be issued to every family across the province to provide free medical treatment to the entire population of Punjab after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Prime Minister’s office quoted PM Khan as saying. 

“Therapeutic facilities include treatment for cancer, kidney transplants, chronic diseases, thalassemia, complications of diabetes, heart disease, nervous system surgery, organ failure, and accidents,” the statement said.
