Death toll in the deadly attack has risen to 44 and 157 people are injured

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif resolves to root out terrorism!

While visiting Peshawar after the deadly suicide attack in the mosque, the PM said that he would ensure “the National Action Plan (NAP) is implemented in full force” and with complete comprehensiveness.

PM Sharif along with Army Chief General Asim Munir visited the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Monday evening to inquire about the injured in the suicide blast that ripped through Peshawar’s Police Lines mosque.

He was accompanied by Minister for Defence Khwaja Muhammad Asif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb.

The prime minister took rounds of different wards and met the injured.

He also directed the hospital administration to provide the best medical facilities to all the injured.

The premier was briefed by the Corps Commander Peshawar about the motives behind the terror attacks.

While Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muazzam Jah Ansari presented the initial investigative report about the suicide attack on the mosque.

The Prime minister was also shown CCTV footage of the suicide attack on the Police Lines mosque.

“Terrorists are making a sinister attempt to create fear and terror by attacking defence agencies,” PM Shehbaz Shraif said, adding, “They will be defeated by the strength of the unity of the state and the people.”

Mentioning the great loss of life of security personnel and civilians due to terrorism, the PM added that Pakistan had made great sacrifices against terrorism and that he would not “let the sacrifices of the martyrs go in vain.”

Later in the evening, PM Shehbaz Sharif after the conclusion of his visit to Peshawar, in a tweet said: “Just returned from Peshawar. The sheer scale of the human tragedy is unimaginable. This is no less than an attack on Pakistan. The nation is overwhelmed by a deep sense of grief. I have no doubt terrorism is our foremost national security challenge.”
