PM Shehbaz Sharif lands in Riyadh to attend ‘One Water Summit’
This is PM Shehbaz Sharif’s third visit to Saudi Arabia in recent months.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Riyadh on Tuesday for a two-day trip to attend the One Water Summit.
Prince Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Governor of Riyadh, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and other senior diplomatic staff welcomed the Pakistani premiere upon his arrival at Riyadh’s Royal Airport Terminal.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are part of the premier’s delegation.
One Water Summit is being held from December 3 to 4. It is a part of the One Planet Summit initiative, which was announced during the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference. It is being co-hosted by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan and the World Bank.
In a post on X, PM Shehbaz Sharif said, “Just landed in Riyadh to join Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and other global leaders at the One Water Summit, a timely event to deliberate upon collective strategies to tackle water security challenges.”
“Together, we aim to accelerate action to combat desertification, address water pollution, and advocate for local, regional and global action. Let’s unite in our pursuit for water sustainability!” he added.
During his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Shehbaz will deliver a keynote address at a roundtable, where he will highlight Pakistan’s initiatives to address water scarcity, enhance climate resilience, and promote biodiversity. On the sidelines of the summit, he will hold bilateral discussions with international leaders to advance Pakistan’s diplomatic ties.
This is PM Shehbaz Sharif’s third visit to Saudi Arabia in recent months. In November 2024, he attended the Arab-Islamic Summit, and in October, he participated in the 8th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), a prominent forum for economic collaboration.
