PM Shehbaz Sharif secures vote of confidence at NA

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed a session of the National Assembly after getting the Vote of Confidence.

PM Shehbaz Sharif secured the vote of confidence at the National Assembly session on Thursday.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the foreign minister, tabled the resolution, on which 180 Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) voted affirmative.

“The National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan repose its full confidence in the Leadership of Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, as the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” the resolution read.

After the counting of votes was completed, the Speaker of the Assembly announced that 180 members had voted in favour of the Prime Minister and the resolution was approved, as opposed to 174 when Shehbaz was elected as the prime minister in April last year.

Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf said that if Mufti Abdul Shakoor was alive today, this number would have been 181 and I will ask my secretariat to put the names of the members who have voted for confidence on the website of the National Assembly.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the coalition partners for reposing their trust in his leadership as he Addressed on the floor of the National Assembly after securing a confidence vote.

“Today, Pakistan is facing serious challenges […] Pakistan’s economy was prospering before the 2018 elections,” he said while blaming the previous PTI-led government for the prevailing economic crisis.

The “entire world” is aware of how RTS was compromised and the 2018 election results were manipulated. Former chief justice Saqib Nisar ordered to stop the recounting of votes when we challenged the election results.
