PMD Clarifies Misinformation on Record Cold Temperatures in Pakistan
This clarification comes in light of widespread speculation about unprecedented cold temperatures and snowfall in various regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has recently addressed claims circulating on social media regarding the coldest nights and days in Pakistan’s 100-year history, specifically between January 12 and January 15, 2025.
The PMD clarified that these assertions are baseless and that no such extreme weather events are anticipated during this period.
The department emphasized its commitment to providing forecasts and reports based on verified and authentic data, countering the misinformation that has gained traction online.
“The PMD informs the people that recent claims circulating on social media, which suggest that the coldest nights and days in Pakistan’s 100-year history will occur between January 12 and January 15, and that snowfall similar to Saudi Arabia could take place in various districts of central Punjab, are baseless and unverified,” it said in a statement.
This clarification comes in light of widespread speculation about unprecedented cold temperatures and snowfall in various regions, particularly in central Punjab, which the PMD has categorically denied.
