The police raided Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore on Saturday.
The development came shortly after the former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan left for Islamabad to attend the hearing of the Toshakhana case in the Judicial Complex today.
The police broke the gate of the house of Imran Khan to enter the premises. The police also used baton-charge, shelling and water cannons to disperse the PTI workers. While the PTI workers also pelted the police with stones.
According to the police, weapons, petrol bombs and other equipment were found from the arrested workers.
As reported, more than 20 PTI workers were arrested when they put up resistance against the police action in Zaman Park.
As per the PTI’s official Twitter handle, Bushra Bibi, the former prime minister’s wife, and some domestic workers were present inside the Zaman Park home.
The Twitter timeline today is filled with visuals showing operations at Zaman Park.
On the other hand, Imran Khan decried police ‘assault’ on his Zaman Park house as he made his way to Islamabad court.
In a message via a tweet, PTI CHairman said, “Meanwhile Punjab police have led an assault on my house in Zaman Park where Bushra Begum is alone. Under what law are they doing this? This is part of the London Plan where commitments were made to bring absconder Nawaz Sharif to power as quid pro quo for agreeing to one appointment.”
Later in the day, interior minister Rana Sanaullah told Geo News that the operation was concluded and alleged that contraband was discovered.
