Police raids Parvez Elahi’s Gujrat residence

The raid was launched to arrest Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, sources

Police raided former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s residence in Gujrat early Wednesday morning.

As reported, a heavy contingent of police raided the Zahoor Elahi residence in Kunjah city, while no arrest was reported due to the non-presence of Elahi’s family at home.

Only the housekeeping staff were present at the residence at the time of the raid as Pervez Elahi was in Lahore and his son Moonis Elahi had been out of the country.

Police barged into the residence with the help of a ladder, according to the source, but, left after searching the house.

On the other hand, Monis Elahi strongly condemned the illegal police raid and blamed it for harassing his domestic workers at night.

“Last night the police raided our house in Gujarat. No warrant, no case. 25 police vehicles are understandable, but what were 2 black Vigos doing with them? Indian spies were looking for?” he said in a tweet.

 

Meanwhile, in a statement, Gujrat police defend its action, stating that PML-Q leaders including Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and Moonis Elahi were booked in a terrorism case.

The police spokesperson said that the case against both PML-Q leaders were registered under the provisions of the Terrorism Act had been registered at Kakrali Police Station.

Police added that the raid was launched to arrest Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain.
