Pray for Raisi’s health, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged following the reports of the helicopter’s hard landing on Sunday.

  • President Raisi was heading to the city of Tabriz, in the northwest of Iran, after returning from an Iran-Azerbaijan border area, according to local media.
  • Rescue teams are trying to locate the helicopter on which President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian were travelling.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a statement following reports President Ebrahim Raisi was involved in a helicopter crash.

He said the nation “should pray” for Raisi’s health, state broadcaster IRIB reports.

“If the people of Iran do not worry, there will be no disruption in the work of the country”, he added.

A helicopter carrying Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has been involved in an accident, state media reported.

The MEHR news agency has released an image showing Raisi before boarding a helicopter, but it is unclear if this is before or after he visited two dams on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.

It was confirmed from photos and images that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions were riding a US-manufactured Bell 212 helicopter.
